At Step Out! we feel it is important for people of all ages to engage in play, connect with their community and learn through laughter. We focus on process over product, to foster development of interpersonal skills. Adults 19+ can currently engage in Improv/Acting and Stand Up Comedy programs to develop such skills as:

Critical/Creative Thinking
Improv/Acting Sessions
Interactive activities and acting games to bring you into presence and play, while gaining interpersonal skills. Each class builds on prior knowledge and culminates in a live showcase for friends and family. There are three classes on offer for 19 years and older. Intermediate and Improver classes run 2 hours per week, and the beginner class is 1.5 hours per week. All classes are located at the Squamish United Church (38014 Fourth Avenue)
Fall session 2023 (11 weeks)
Classes on offer:
Blue (intermediate): (must have completed Green or have some experience). This class focuses on acting improv with preparation for performing Improv to audiences.
5.30-7.30pm Monday’s September 11- December 11 (excludes October 2 for National Truth and Reconciliation day, October 9 for Thanksgiving and November 13 for Remembrance day)

Blue/Green (Improver): Take your improv skills to the next level with a 50/50 blend of teambuilding improv and acting improv.
6-8pm Tuesday’s September 12- December 12 (excludes October 3, October 10 and November 14 to align with the Monday schedule)

Green (beginner): Fun, interactive social games with a focus on team building and stepping out. Very little acting improv.

Want an extra top up of Improv every week? Improv for Play runs for 13 weeks on Friday nights from 6-7pm from September 15- December 8, and can be added to any Improv session for only $65!!! That’s only $5 a class!!!

Stand up Comedy
This 6 week course will introduce you to the world of stand up comedy both the writing and performing aspects. We can’t make people funny, but we can guide you in the right direction with joke writing, timing and how to play off an audience.
First 6 week session: Wednesday’s September 13- October 18: 6-8pm
Second 6 week session: Wednesday’s October 25- November 29: 6-8pm
