PAIGE MCIVER

Creative Writing: Page to Stage

This intensive course blends acting and writing for the aspiring creative. Modelled off of the unique “Mike Leigh Improvisation Method” from the award-winning British director, we will use improvisation, mimicry and writing exercises drawing on students’ personal experiences to generate character, dialogue and story. After this class, you will have the beginnings of your own authentic, three-dimensional character, and a completed scene or monologue, written by you. This course will include some work outside of class, as well as 1-on-1 sessions with the instructor. Prior performance and/or creative writing experience is recommended, but not required. Culminates in a live showcase or reading. Classes are for 19 and older.
